Leo

Our warrior, Leo, was born on September 9th 2020. It was just over a month earlier we found ourselves in the cardiology center at Vanderbilt Children’s when we were informed our (unnamed) baby boy was 1 in 100. He was diagnosed with a VSD large enough not expected to close, as well as a slight double outlet right ventricle and pulmonary stenosis. Like all CHD parents, the initial shock was overwhelming but after educating ourselves, and of course praying, we were very anxious to meet our baby boy and get the process moving.  In the week’s following his diagnosis we decided upon the perfect name for him - Leo (Latin for Lion, a name of strength and courage). Leo spent his first few days of life in the NICU but we were very blessed his vitals were strong all the way through surgery date- December 14th 2020. It was during our hospital stay that we first learned about the Brett Boyer Foundation and wow did all your stories give us strength during this time. So thank you everyone at the foundation and all you Warriors and parents!  Leo was discharged just before Christmas. He just turned 9 months old and learned to crawl. During a recent echo follow up we were told his cardiologist doesn’t need to see him until next Spring! He’s a happy little man with the cutest crooked smile and the most loving older brother, Christian.
